Installation of ASEPTIC TANK 2000L, CENTRIFUGAL HOT WATER TANK 6000L & DEODORIZATION AND DE-COLOR TANK 8000L for the SOLVENT TANKS SYSTEM-DONG THAP project of partner Vinh Hoan Collagen 03/2020. This project requires absolute precision in microbial mechanical fabrication as well as high-pressure pipeline connection engineering. The completion of this industrial storage tank system has helped optimize the collagen production line, fully meeting international standards for food and pharmaceutical hygiene and safety.
The equipment system supplied for the project includes the ASEPTIC TANK 2000L, the CENTRIFUGAL HOT WATER TANK 6000L, and the DEODORIZATION AND DE-COLOR TANK 8000L. This synchronized combination creates a closed process from heating, refining treatment to sterile storage of the finished product. Hoang Tam undertook all stages from solution consulting and workshop fabrication to complete installation at the Dong Thap construction site.
Overview of the Solvent Tanks System Project in Dong Thap
In March 2020, Vinh Hoan Collagen Joint Stock Company upgraded its solvent storage and heat treatment system at its factory located in Dong Thap province. For the pangasius skin-extracted collagen production industry, standards for microbial, temperature, and product color control are extremely strict. Any minor flaw in the stainless steel welds or contact surfaces of the storage tanks could lead to cross-contamination risks, ruining the entire export shipment.

Recognizing this importance, our partner Vinh Hoan Collagen selected Hoang Tam as their accompanying partner for design and fabrication. With deep expertise in processing specialized stainless steel equipment for the Food, Pharmaceutical, and Chemical industries, we provided the most optimal technical solutions for each specific type of storage tank in this system.
Installation of ASEPTIC TANK 2000L - Strict Aseptic Standards for the Food and Pharmaceutical Industry
The process of Installing the ASEPTIC TANK 2000L (2,000-liter aseptic tank) is the item requiring the highest technical standards in the entire project. This equipment plays the role of storing the collagen solution after it has undergone pasteurization, preparing it for the finished product filling stage. Therefore, the tank must ensure an absolute aseptic state, allowing no bacteria or external agents to enter from the outside environment.

Regarding structure, the tank is fabricated entirely from high-grade SUS 316L stainless steel. This is a steel grade with superior chemical corrosion resistance, especially in environments containing organic compounds and salts from the collagen production process. The inner surface of the tank is mechanically polished combined with electropolishing to achieve a surface roughness of Ra < 0.4 µm. This smoothness helps completely eliminate micro-crevices, preventing the formation of bacterial biofilms.
For the Installation of ASEPTIC TANK 2000L to achieve maximum operational efficiency, the accessory system accompanying the tank is synchronously integrated, including:
- Aseptic Sampling Valve: Allows periodic sampling of product quality without affecting the sterility inside the tank.
- Aseptic Breather Valve integrated with 0.2 µm hydrophobic filter: Ensures negative and positive pressure balancing during solution pumping and discharging, while preventing microorganisms from the air from entering the tank.
- 360-degree rotating CIP (Clean-in-Place) spray ball: Ensures cleaning solution evenly contacts all points on the internal surface of the tank without leaving dead corners.
A major challenge when conducting the Installation of ASEPTIC TANK 2000L at the Dong Thap site was executing the sanitary pipeline connection welds. All joints connecting the tank to the process piping were performed by Hoang Tam's team of high-pressure welders using the TIG welding method with internal Argon gas shielding (purge welding for sanitary pipes). This method helps the weld seam inside the pipe to be flat and smooth, without oxidation or black slag, completely eliminating hiding places for microorganisms.

Construction of Centrifugal Hot Water Tank 6000L - Optimizing Thermal Efficiency
The CENTRIFUGAL HOT WATER TANK 6000L plays the role of continuously supplying hot water at a precise temperature for the extraction and heating process of the collagen solution. With a storage capacity of up to 6,000 liters, this equipment requires extremely good mechanical load-bearing structures and optimal thermal insulation capabilities to minimize electrical energy losses during factory operation.

The equipment is fabricated from SUS 304 stainless steel with a wall thickness suitable for withstanding heavy water loads and high hydrostatic pressure. The tank body is wrapped with a thermal insulation layer of high-density glass wool or 50 mm thick polyurethane foam, and the outermost shell is covered with hairline-polished stainless steel sheets to enhance aesthetics and protect the insulation layer from workshop environmental moisture.
A special feature of the equipment is the centrifugal circulation system integrated within the tank. This system helps circulate the hot water continuously, eliminating temperature stratification phenomena (water on top being hotter than water at the bottom), ensuring the temperature of the 6,000 liters of water is always uniform at every position inside the tank. When installing this equipment on-site, Hoang Tam precisely aligned the support frame and damping system for the circulation pump to minimize noise and vibration when the system operates continuously 24/7.
Installation of Deodorization and De-color Tank 8000L - Ensuring Maximum Purity
The DEODORIZATION AND DE-COLOR TANK 8000L is the largest equipment in the SOLVENT TANKS SYSTEM-DONG THAP project. For collagen products extracted from fish skin, completely removing the characteristic fishy odor and dark pigments is a decisive factor in the commercial value of the final product. The 8,000-liter deodorization and de-color tank is where this important refining stage takes place.

The equipment operates under deep vacuum pressure and high temperature conditions to promote the evaporation of volatile compounds causing unpleasant odors, combined with filter aids and activated carbon for color adsorption. Working under vacuum conditions (negative pressure), the 8,000L tank body is reinforced with stainless steel stiffening rings running around the body, absolutely preventing the risk of distortion or structural collapse due to internal and external pressure differentials.
The specialized agitator system designed specifically for the 8,000L tank helps evenly disperse color-adsorbing agents into the collagen solution without breaking the sensitive peptide chain bonds. The agitator shaft is sealed with a double mechanical seal assembly with circulating cooling water, completely preventing lubricating grease from leaking from the gearbox into the product tank.
Design and Construction Process of Hoang Tam's Storage Tank System
To complete the project on schedule in March 2020 and achieve the highest quality, Hoang Tam applied a standardized workflow, clearly defining the responsibilities of each technical department:
- Technical Consulting and Solution Design: Our engineers directly surveyed the premises at the Vinh Hoan Collagen factory in Dong Thap to calculate tank dimensions suitable for the workshop space. 3D fabrication drawings were released based on ASME Section VIII standards (for pressure vessels) and ASME BPE standards (for sanitary equipment).
- Workshop Fabrication: Cutting, rolling, and welding of the tanks were carried out at Hoang Tam's workshop using modern machinery. Load-bearing welds were strictly quality-checked using liquid penetrant testing or ultrasonic testing to ensure no porosity or micro-crack defects.
- Surface Treatment and Passivation: After fabrication, all storage tanks underwent weld cleaning with specialized chemicals and surface passivation with nitric acid/citric acid solutions. This process helps regenerate the natural chromium oxide film on the stainless steel surface, enhancing corrosion resistance when exposed to CIP cleaning chemicals (acid and caustic).
- Transportation and On-site Installation: Moving large-sized storage tanks such as the 6,000L and 8,000L tanks required a detailed lifting plan, ensuring absolute safety for workers and surrounding infrastructure. Field engineers leveled the tank legs using specialized laser leveling equipment before fixing them to the workshop foundation.

After completing the Installation of ASEPTIC TANK 2000L and the two auxiliary storage tank systems, Hoang Tam coordinated with Vinh Hoan Collagen's representatives to conduct no-load and load trial runs of the system (FAT & SAT). Actual acceptance test results showed that all parameters regarding holding pressure, vacuum tightness, and temperature control capability met and exceeded the initial design requirements.
The success of the SOLVENT TANKS SYSTEM-DONG THAP project in March 2020 is clear evidence of Hoang Tam's capability as a reputable mechanical manufacturing contractor. We are confident in meeting all the strictest requirements of your enterprise in sanitary stainless steel equipment installation projects for the food, pharmaceutical, and chemical industries.
